Families. I have several families. First, the one that I am - TopicsExpress

Families. I have several families. First, the one that I am blood or marriage-related to. Second, the Fire Department. Third, my whitewater rafting family. Now, I add a fourth: the family of the Cayamo Roots Music Cruises. In the second and the third, you come together as a family because your lives depend on each other. My new family shares with my first sharing the enjoyment of our lives and common loves. There are a great many of you to thank for making this such a wonderful experience and please forgive me failing to mention by name everyone. Special thanks to those that helped out a newbie such as Kent and Linda Koefler, Alan Perry, Sandra Zuber Gilcrease, the McCrarys, Linda Tuerk, Marilyn Hennessy, Holly Ann Z, Paul T. Mueller, Pam from Santa Cruz and soooooooooo many others. Because of all of your caring and helpful tips, we were able to maneuver throughout the week without a single hitch. I do apologize for not making contact with hardly a soul, but I was operating under the assumption that this would be my one and only trip and was bound a determined to spend every second on the music. I have no idea how I will pay for it, but I will never miss another. And, even better, I have my old music-collecting pal hooked as well. Curry and I are already planning for next year. Best moment: getting on the boat. Worst moment: getting off the boat (which will be my only complaint to Natalie when she sends out the survey: We walked, with 3 and 4 bags each, from aft to mid elevators, only to find them closed, back to aft, down to Deck 7, only to find we had to walk all the way forward and then back to mid. As fat as I am, I am only one soft-serve away from a heart attack... my own fault, but it still sucked). Curry and I have been John Prine junkies since 1970, but he never seems to come west of the Mississippi, so the two shows we saw held a special meaning for us. But, there was not even a mediocre show in the whole lot. With guest appearances, I was able to see all 39 acts and this is why I did no socializing. Ive been following the various threads and will add the perspective of a newbie soon. Thanks to the artists and to my new family for providing me with the most fun I have ever had. (And God bless your gentle soul, Mr. John Prine)
