Families Speaking this Thursday at 2:00 pm before The Governors Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Working Group! The Governor’s Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Working Group has been meeting since June 2014. The task of this Working Group is to present recommendations to the Governor about the DDS residential waiting list crisis. So far, the group has heard presentations from DDS, other working groups and private non-profit community providers. This Thursday, November 13 at 2:00 pm, as the Working Group begins to compile its final recommendations, they will be listening to up to 15 families. This is your opportunity to put a face on the Waiting List and to share your ideas about solutions! There are still a few speaking slots available. If you would like to speak to The Working Group on Thursday, please contact Shannon Jacovino at [email protected] or at 860 874-8100, ext. 102 Whether you are speaking or not, please come out this Thursday to support those who are and to send a strong message that families have their own ideas about solutions and you want your voices heard! The meeting will be held in the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
