Families Without Borders..Ladakh 2011-2014 It is a privilege to ride the J&K SRTC Bus all day from Srinagar and then ride the same bus again at dawn to my family in Wakha Ladakh....just to work with and watch the ethnic Tibetan Buddhist children grow in wisdom and understanding of their unique heritage and for me to breathe deeply in the unequaled beauty and pristine peace of the silent Ladakh mountains.. I stay in the home of my friend Tsering Tiergis, a farmer-activist who served in the Indo-Tibetan Border Force [ITBF]....a marvelous human being. No one cares more than Tiergis, to build a fair civil society in which everyone benefits, especially children. Nobody works harder than Aamalie, his wife, who wakes up at 4 am to milk the cows and cuts grass so that the cattle can eat during the 5-month snowbound winter. What does the govt do for Amalie? No healthcare, no pension, no recognition of her worth as a human who works every day with dignity to support her family. No one cares more than Tibetan refugees, about creating beautiful spaces to inhabit within nature, as close to the blue sky and as high as possible in mountains...in beautiful towns and villages like my own Wakha, Ladakh..
