Fantastic lightning total from yesterday afternoon and into this morning...offshore storms really did put on a display after they came through Darwin. The density of lightning was very widespread and not confined to the lightning alleys that we have. Even this morning there were textbook storms off the NW coast near Wadeye and they produced about 300 strokes. Hector is producing lightning again and some storms off his SW coast also. Not sure of what will happen this afternoon for Darwin but expect NW/W areas to be the dominant force for the meantime storm-wise. Steer is still S/SE so any forcing inland will happen there initially. Bureau still has TC Ita crossing Cape York Peninsular during the four day period....she wont weaken that much upon entering the Gulf of Carpentaria...Ill have a look at the models etc later on and post something on her status.
