Fantastic news for regional Victoria communities… Extra $500mil will boost our $1billion Regional Growth Fund, extending it through until 2022, if the Vic Coalition Govt is re-elected. Joined by Premier Denis Napthine for the announcement in @Ballarat today. The Nationals for Regional Victoria Scott Turner for Ripon was there, too. Today’s commitment brings the Coalition Govt’s investment through the Regional Growth Fund to $1 billion over the next 8 years and is on top of the $500 million which has already been invested into regional and rural communities. Already, the Regional Growth Fund has been a tremendous success for regional and rural Victoria, with the first $500 million supporting almost 1,800 projects and leveraging more than $2 billion worth of investment. It has created almost 23,000 jobs across regional and rural Vic, including 6,000 direct full-time jobs, 11,700 indirect jobs, and nearly 5000 construction jobs Labor on the other hand has confirmed it will scrap the Regional Growth Fund and return to the Regional Infrastructure Development Fund which will be fully committed by Christmas at Daniel Andrews’ current rate of spending. The Regional Growth Fund is driving growth and prosperity in country Vic. When the regions are doing well the whole state prospers, and that is why we created the Regional Growth Fund.
