This is an invitation to attend and participate in an academic ‘match-making’ event as part of the second Fashion Colloquia Series and IFTI (International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes) jointly. The Fashion Colloquia series started as a series of four fashion-based events organized to coincide with the fashion weeks in London, Milan, Paris and New York. These have been well received and we are now organizing a second series commencing in London (detailed below), followed by an event at AMFI in Amsterdam on January 24th and 25th, 2014. We have invited 15 international (refereed) fashion-led contributions covering a broad spectrum of themes and formats to be presented at this event hosted by London College of Fashion. Each of these is looking for cooperation and participation from individuals and institutions from across the globe in order to propel these projects. We are expecting an international and diverse audience and hope to initiate a series of successful international research and practice-based collaborations and partnerships. The project topic areas include the following (amongst others): Social media Bio-diversity and animal welfare An alternative approach to design teaching Sustainable fashion, Leverage buyer and manufacturer initiatives Customer Service and Career Satisfaction Exploring theoretical problems in fashion design (The programme will be posted on newsevents.arts.ac.uk/event/fashion-colloquia-iffti/ shortly, please check this listing for updates or contact below) This event will also feature a session exploring alternate ways of funding and the necessity for cooperation in funding international fashion-based research projects. Other highlights include information on the future of the Fashion Colloquia Series, an update on IFFTI’s research strategies, and a session on the work of London College of Fashion’s Centre for Fashion Enterprise.
