Fast on 9th and 10th of Muharram. Muslims dont fast these 2 days with regards to Karbala, but they fast with regards to Prophet Mohammeds (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasalam) command to fast as gratitude for the liberation of Musa (Alaihi Salam) and Israelites from Pharaoh. Reference Via These Ahadiths 1.The Prophet (Sallal laahu allaihi wassalam) came to Madeenah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of ‘Ashoora’. He said, “What is this?” They said, “This is a good day, this is the day when Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy and Moosa fasted on this day.” He said, “We are closer to Moosa than you.” So he fasted on this day and told the people to fast. [Narrated by Ibn Abbas Radi Allahu Anhu] [Sahih Bukhari Hadith No 1865] 2.The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, If I remain alive till the next year, I shall also observe fast on the ninth of Muharram.
