Fear in not the basis of our faith! Where did you get that, Fox News? It really ticks me off when ignorance and stupidity are packaged in one coconut shell. Rather, Islamic faith strikes a balance of the three states of the heart - Love, Hope and Fear. Love of Allah, hope in His Mercy and fear of His Punishment. Unlike other faiths that focuses only on one aspect, and we all see the effect of that - heedlessness. As what Imam Ibn ul Qayyim al Jawziyyah once said: The heart in its journey towards Allah, subhanahu wa taala, is like a bird whose head is love, and hope and fear are its two wings. When the head and the two wings are sound and healthy the flight of the bird is good, but when the head is cut off, it immediately dies, and when either or both wings are deficient, the bird cannot properly fly and may become victim of any hunter or snare. The righteous predecessors preferred to strengthen the wing of fear during good times when heedlessness is feared, and to strengthen the wing of hope at times of calamity and when near death. Ok, I was harsh in the beginning... my apologies. astaghfirullah. But please dont make things up from your rigid imagination just to make you feel comfy inside.
