While there were many aspects to my role, like marketing, strategic planning and leadership, I always got the most satisfaction when focused on consumer satisfaction. Sitting with customers in a branch, who were sometimes complimentary, but other times critical, was highly energising. The simple task of packing bags and taking feedback always ensured my feet stayed on the ground. Even the daunting task of supplying hot Superquinn sausage to tens of thousands of people along the St Patricks Day Parade with 400 of my staff was all hugely rewarding.
