Feast of Brigid - February 1st: Its long been a source of fascination that Ireland had the ingenuity of consciousness to adopt two trinitarian female deities (there are 3 Marys’ referred to in several old religious songs). Brigid is represented by the triple spiral. As well as maiden, mother and crone within her own feminine aspect, she could be said to represent pre-Christian (Goddess), Christian (Saint) and folkloric traditions. Learning what she means to people has been a window to understanding how tradition, folklore, mythology, religion, identity and gender somehow manage to balance in heart, mind and spirit and peacefully co-exist. I invite you to join me for more on Brigit and this journey and to listen to the music it has inspired. You can find it on CelticMeditationMusic
