Feb.10, 2014 Rain, rain, rain , rain. It rained 4 days in a row! What a wonderful blessing that followed the Fast. I can say Ive never been happier to be soaked to the skin in my entire life. Many people felt sorry for us and invited us in. One experience is an Indian couple that saw how cold we were and invited us in. They took the first lesson really well and want to meet with more missionaries! The blessings of the rain are not only physical but spiritual as well! We have a great new investigator named Ben. Hes 28 years old, thin, tall and looking for the truth. He made contacted the church through his girlfriend, Megan. It just so happens that Megan was baptized exactly a year ago and is preparing to go on a mission. After coming to church twice he invited us to come and teach him! That doesnt happen too often where people are asking for the missionaries. Ben asks a lot of questions, very analytical. Some really fun questions about God and our purpose of life. Good thing we had the answers to help him out. It was interesting, during the lesson we didnt talk very much, but the wards two most recent converts testified to help him understand. It worked really well. The next day we taught him again and answered some of his main questions. But the best part about this lesson was our two other investigators, Deyna and Alan, came. Instead of being taught though, they testified to Ben about the truth that we were speaking! How often do investigators tell other investigators that their lives have been changed through this? The light was strong when Deyna and Alan testified. That lesson was simply full of the Spirit and Ben accepted a baptism date for the 15th of March. He still has a lot of questions but I know that hell be able to pull through. Going on an exchange with an assistant is so eye-opening. A real leader is loving, kind, obedient, and always full of joy! Being with Elder Gurr was nothing less than that. We had a lot of fun together but I learned so many insights. We came up with a lot of ideas for our area using the college. We had correlation with our Bishopric member Brother Nethercott and things just started flowing. One simple idea is that were going to be making an ultimate frisbee game time at the college so that members can have something to invite friends to at. Another idea is a free car wash at our church right across the street. Well offer a free Book of Mormon and church tour so that people will want to come and see inside. These brilliant ideas were come up with when Elder Gurr suggested a few things. We rolled with it and it was amazing! I cant wait for this week! Obviously missionaries arent perfect. Sometimes we even forget things. Elder Koerper and I forgot something very important this week. As we were planning we received a phone call from President Lewis. He informed us that he was at our house. Confused we continued listening and then President said, Did you remember our 3 hour exchange that we were going to do? Of course, we forgot. The whole time on the inside I was thinking, oh oh oh oh oho h oh oh oh oh my goodness. Good thing our President understands that we have those days and what almost turned out to be a disaster turned into a great success. A man was walking with his dog and he darted into his apartment before we had a chance to talk with them. Elder Koerper, determined, went up and knocked on his door. The mans name was John and was very open to talking with us. While standing in the rain for 3 min I asked him if we could come in. He graciously allowed us to walk in. We talked about the Restoration and some of the misconceptions that he had heard about the church. We told him about the Book of Mormon and how its changed all of our lives. It was nice to have President right next to us telling this young man how important this gospel is. Having President give the First Vision was powerful and John accepted to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. This goes to show that even if something unexpected happens, you should always be ready for it! This week is Zone Conference and Im excited to hear what the Lord wants us to learn this time. Folsom is on fire! Were going to be hitting our highest baptism mark this month and were so excited! Just like the floods began, the baptisms are going to start coming in too! Love you! Love, Elder Espiritu
