[ Feedback is most welcome.] Place: Unkown Date: October 17, 1990 Caleb Casteel: 9 years He looked into the mirror, tears streamed down his face. His lips quivered at the sight, his body shaking and convulsed as if he had lost all control. Caleb was terrified at the sight of himself. The wings looked as if they had belonged on an angel, they were made of long, soft feathers. They held the color of snow, so white that a pure glow seemed to emit from them. Caleb pressed the sharp blade against the bone, just then the door swung open, a silhouette of a man appeared. This aint my boy, hes the devils work. His father mumbled. Look at em wings. Caleb stared down at his feet, frightened and ashamed of what he carried. Mr.Casteel, we cannot say this is the-um Devils work. What Caleb carries is a mutant trait, it is permanent from what we have studied. It is only a mere slight change in the DNA sequence . The man in the suit cleared his throat before continuing. He is what we call a mutant. There are many others like him. Caleb turned his head toward the man as he mentioned that there were others. Others? The little boy asked, his eyes gleamed with a hint of happiness. Alone was the last thing Caleb wanted to be, needed to be. Johnny glared at Caleb, it was a way of forcing his son to keep quiet or the worst was yet to happen. There are many others. But, they must remain hidden behind doors, in the shadows. Society is afraid of what they may do. These muta-people are to remain locked away. Caleb turned quickly turned his head, unable to listen more to what the man was sayning. Pain filled him, to be hidden was something he had not wanted. Is there any way we can get these things cut off? I dont want a freak for a son. Johnny whispered to the man, not wanting to hear. There is a way to remove what he is carrying , yet it will cause great pain for anesthetics cannot be used. This procedure may be quite dangerous. Johnny shifted his eyes toward Caleb. The boy stood there, terror filled his face after carefully listening the conversation between his father the man. No! No! Caleb managed to scream at him. I will live like this! You cant cut them off! He threw himself toward the man onto his knees, begging him not to. Please, dont. Johnny stared at him, shaking his head in disapproval. Embarrassed by his sons reaction. Always knew you were a whimp. You take em things off or Ill send ya away with this gentleman right here. Ya cant come back here. Ever. Threaten me as much as you want, you know I will never return home! Caleb yelled, proceeding to spit at his fathers face. Johnny gave a grimace of disgust as he wiped his face. He walked toward the exit, never to be seen again. The boy quickly moved his small body away from the man. The mans eyes locked to Calebs. He motioned the boy to come forward. Hesitation kept him from scurrying toward the man. Calebs eyes were focused at the door, a part of him hoped his father would return. But, happy he was no longer in his care. He was safe, or so he thought.
