Feeling pretty down today. Left yesterdays professional - TopicsExpress

Feeling pretty down today. Left yesterdays professional development day feeling so inadequate...again. I always do after meetings of data-based education and continual documentation of every single thing I do. It wouldnt matter so much, but I care so deeply about my students and have given most of my waking hours the last 18 years to school. I work so hard at my job: a minimum of 12 hours daily and am usually there at least part of the weekend. Last Saturday I worked 7 1/2 hours grading papers, which is normal for an English teacher in addition to preparing upcoming lessons. So difficult to have been considered a leader and a good teacher for decades by so many to now suddenly being called average and looked at like I am crazy or largely ignored whenever I give insight or suggestions. Does this happen to everyone in all careers as they age? Is it the current state of education today? Is it just my current workplace? Is it my own inability to cope with the fast-paced world? Felt so different when I was respected overseas. sigh. Maybe being with the kids today will cheer me up... if not, maybe Ill move to Australia!
