Objectives of the Black Sea Silk Road Corridor (BSSRC) Project For Georgia: 1. Protect and promote the cultural and historic heritage of Georgia 2. Promote and increase tourism in Georgia, expecially in rural areas 3. Attract local and foreign investment in tourism infrastructure (roads, hotels, etc.) For the Region: 1. Promote cross border communication 2. Re-establish historic contacts between peoples of the Silk Road countries 3. Increase trade and commerce throughout the region Who are the beneficiaries? 1. Peoples of each country who instill pride and re-awaken knowledge of their culture and history 2. The tourist industry (tour agencies, hotels, restaurants, crafts) 3. Greater awareness of each country and increased accessibility What is the Tadzreli Fund? • Charitable arm of Tadzreli NGO • Based on an ancient Georgian tradition o From the 4th and 5th centuries Georgians built Christian monasteries throughout the Middle East o These churches and monasteries were defended by Knights of the Church – monks Knights of the King – Tadzrelebi • Tadrelebi, and by extension, the Tadzreli Fund is built on a tradition of protecting the ancient culture and heritage of Georgia • The BSSRC project is a logical extension of that very purpose
