Feeling so much joy and vitality after attending the Abene Dance and Drum Festival last night! A special thrill: watching my beloved teacher and friend Lisa Newell playing the dundun with a giant, fierce smile on her face as Caro and his troupe danced...Thank you to all who made the Festival possible. I am inspired to encourage everyone to celebrate the precious gifts West Africa goes on giving by checking out the film screened at the Festival last night: sahelcalling/ and supporting the musicians of Mali who continue to risk everything to pray for peace and freedom.
