Fellow Hobie sailors - we have our forth coming event sail this - TopicsExpress

Fellow Hobie sailors - we have our forth coming event sail this Sunday which you have all been invited to. Details for this event have been pinned so please let us know if your coming. I just wanted to discuss afew things here for any new comers who are new to our group. We are social sailors so all liabilities are your own. It’s up to all individual owners to ensure your Hobie Cat is of good sailing condition. If not or unsure ask for advice or take it down to see Mal and Nat @ Sunstate Hobie. I recommend you have at least the following in a water proof bag affixed to your trampoline: Water, food, sunscreen, extra rope and shackles , righting line, paddle. I will have an old first aid kit but if anybody else has one they can bring along that would be great. I also have some spare paddles which i’ll bring along too. It’s not compulsary but I suggest you have insurance. I highly recommend you join VMR Volunteer Marine Rescue. We will book on and off with VMR and have two members in contact with them should the need arrise. Myself via mobile and Dave Chester via radio. A rescue performed by VMR can result in the requested costs of over $200+. Annual membership costs as little as $60 and all money goes to the running of VMR. Membership can be paid online here: vmr.org.au/content/memership-application-form.html I have created two photo maps for those who haven’t sailed with us and apologie to Alex who lost us on the last group sail. There will be plenty of brightly coloured sails on the water but sometimes due to conditions boats can fall behind. First RABY BAY BOAT RAMP @ William Street, Cleveland – Meet, rig and launch (Meet 7-8am to launch @ 9am) Due to the number of cats we’re best to rig as much as possible on trailer before putting your cat in the water to lift your main. Once away you can either wait for the others in the bay OR beach along Raby Bay’s foreshore beach located to your left. Second HORSESHOE BAY @ Peel Island – Break for lunch (around 12 midday)
