Festive mood reigns at the supportive football tournament organised by GNRD-Valencia gnrd.net/seemore.php?id=943 After a successful first edition, the countdown to the second has already began. GNRD-Valencia is very satisfied with the outcome of the supportive football tournament organised to celebrate the International Day of Peace. On Sunday 21st September, four teams consisting of members from Bolivia, Ecuador, sub-Saharan Africa and Spain gathered at the Gardens of Turia (Valencia) to prove to society that integration, tolerance and respect are necessary to live in peace. From the event’s very beginning at 9.30 am, the Stadium of Turia witnessed the festive mood that players, along with their family and friends brought to this occasion. David Casinos, Paralympic gold medallist in Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London, was the special guest at the opening of the tournament. Although the results were not the most important matter of the day, the Ecuadorian team from Asociación Juventud por el Cambio won the championship after defeating the Sub-Saharan Africa team from RIAS association. Bolivian Los Asboles came third place after winning against the Spanish team, who finished in fourth place. The tournament concluded with a trophy ceremony in which all of the participants and associations received their corresponding medals. They each expressed their gratitude towards this initiative and their willingness to participate in the second edition of this GNRD supportive football tournament. Every 21st of September the UN encourages all nations to stop hostilities and celebrate the International Day of Peace through education and sensitivity programs related to peace.
