Few days back my dad and i had this conversation while watching - TopicsExpress

Few days back my dad and i had this conversation while watching news, it was based on our observation, which we both concluded as becoming a frequent and a regular trend among a number of particular media houses. The issue of sourced pictures. I have on a number of times shared articles with similar issues here on Facebook its wrong to me. There was this documentary on first aid a few days back(in Ghana), and all, almost all the pictures were sourced from the internet, it addressed the Ghanaian society and 90% of the pictures that were shown depicted our white brothers and sisters. I am not a racist but i underline such act with a red pen. I was in Bolga when this incidence occured, but i am quite emotional and do not like to report on sad stories(unless really neccessery). But now, i have to, its neccessary i do for a reason, and that reason is THE GHANAIAN TIMES The Ghanaian Times has misinformed the public on an issue, for reasons, unneccessary reasons, (which Could be lazziness, or lack of credible information which is as a result of inadequate research done). All these leads we journalists of today to rely on sourced information from the internet not minding its effects on our audience that look up to us for credible information. The issue here concerns a building belonging to the Ghana Water Company in Bolgatanga that caught fire resulting in the loss of a life and properties. Of course i had quite accurate and detailed information because it was a family concern. In the sense that, i was born and raised in the family of GWCL and i still am related through my father, a staff of GWCL who has worked there for many years. My concern here is that, there was the loss of a life, a single life of a six year old boy apart from which all other members of the family were safe and visibly not injured by anyway. THE GHANAIAN TIMES however, from whereever they escavated such pictures, sourced pictures of two children, a boy and a girl, who are by no means related to the family or incident that occured, attached them with the fire outburst. THIS IS MISINFORMATION I had to write this up because while sitting with my father yesterday noon, he recieved numerous calls asking questions why his(my fathers report to GWCL Accraheadoffice ) about the incidence laid claim of the infant and ommitted the other two children reported by the ghanaian times. This came as a worry to me, considering that i have severally come accross such errors but how long will we the journalists mislead the public, how much passion do we have for the profession? I dont know how far this post will go, but i just hope we sit up and hold high the ethics of journalism in our daily service to our audience. And to those who sell Akan books, Ewe books, Frafra BooksMy First Copy Bookwritten by (Nana Yaw), and i see that your cover page has a white kid on it, unless the book is about white children, or i see a mixture of both colors, i will never buy it. I repeat am not a racist, thats just how i feel.
