Fifteen feet of water may not sound that deep to an experienced swimmer, but it was apparently too much for an 11-year old Long County girl. Authorities say the child drown Sunday evening after swimming in a neighborhood pond. Long County Deputy Coroner, Robert Parker, said the body of the young girl has been recovered from a pond adjacent to the Country Manor Mobile home park on Talmadge Road. The youngster apparently drowned while swimming in the 15 foot deep pond shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday. The Fort Stewart dive team was called in to come and retrieve the body. There was another child swimming with her at the time of the drowning. Stay tuned to WSAV for an news update, and keep watching wsav for more details as well.
