Figaro Daily Ownership 7 CLEANING Wax polish the Fig every 3 - TopicsExpress

Figaro Daily Ownership 7 CLEANING Wax polish the Fig every 3 months or so. Polish is fine for the chrome bumpers – don’t use chrome cleaner – some cleaners are abrasive, some of the Figaro chrome parts are actually plastic, and chrome cleaner or abrasive cleaners will ruin them. They are very expensive to replace! After washing your Fig it’s a good idea to take the roof back & soak up the water that gathers in the roof gutter at the front of the car as it’s got nowhere to go, and on many Figs there’s rust starting to get a hold especially on the passenger side. Try to park the Fig on level ground, or facing uphill so the water in the roof drains runs backwards into the boot drains & out. Get a touch in pen so that stone chips etc can be attended to before rust starts. Use Liquid-Leather feed on the seats. (look it up online its in a black bottle, and Ive seen it in a couple of Halfords Stores) or see liquidleather. They also make a good leather cleaner. And the smell of real leather this liquid creates is brilliant. The dashboard fascia (the white part) and interior roof and rigid side panels are factory painted and on many Figaros, the paint has degraded leaving a sticky surface. The stickiness can be removed to some extent, but will return. If using a cleaning product – test it first in a hidden area – some products will remove the paint! If it is really bad, and the paint has completely deteriorated, its a matter of removing the interior panels, stripping the pain off carefully with automotive thinners, cleaning and respraying the panels. If anyone needs to spray, or touch up these panels or the seats, I have information of a company who can provide both leather dye, and the plastic panel paint in the exact match of colour. Clean the 2 white rubber blocks in the boot as the roof fabric rests on these. Grit can cause the blocks to rub a hole in the roof covering. If your Fig has not been cavity wax injected - then investigate getting it done. It prevents rusting of the inner chassis and box sections. Unlike modern cars – the Figaro has no cavity protection as standard! Alan
