Fighting corruption Monday, 15 Jul 2013 at 12:04 AM Dear Editor, This is in response to the editorial Combat Corruption, published in Rising Kashmir on July 12. Unless and until the nexus between politicians and bureaucrats is curbed, corruption will increase only day after day. The government needs to be concerned about the seriousness of this problem. Our state may soon jump over to numero uno in the list of corrupt states, if it already has not. The print media has a vital role to play in highlighting the ‘big sharks’/departments involved in the corruption. The education department is not lagging in the race than R&B, rural and urban development departments, health/medical education. Some 10 lakh students are on rolls in govt schools to receive education but the shabby picture of education department which is quite visible from the offices of the Chief Education Officers of the valley and particularly the office of CEO Srinagar, has put a question mark on the working of the department.
