Final Voice Many Christians are drawn into spiritual experiences - TopicsExpress

Final Voice Many Christians are drawn into spiritual experiences which have supernatural power or influence upon their lives. Of course many of these events have a great capacity to leave a great impression and can even be life changing. Maybe thats why there is such an interest with any kind of personal testimony where someone has gone to heaven or an angel has appeared and spoken about some future events. How are Christians to measure or judge these supernatural occurrences where many of these people are sincere Christians who are not attempting to deceive or manipulate others for personal gain? The apostle Paul has given Christians some Godly wisdom in measuring supernatural experiences: Galatians 1:6-13 6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. 11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. 13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: The Apostle Paul has instructed the Church to measure everything according to what has already been written in the Word of God. I am not sure the modern day Church is ready to give the kind of authority to the Word of God to make it the final authority After all our supernatural experiences are very appealing to our flesh. When someone who is a prophet says the have had an angel warn them about certain destruction coming to some region of the world shouldnt we take them seriously? Paul says they we (the apostles) or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you let him be accursed. Many false prophets or prophesies are declaring the coming destruction and the end of the world or the United States. Many Christians are speaking of dreams, visions, or visitations from angels which supposedly have revealed coming end time events. I am so thankful for the Book of Revelation where the apostle John was shown by the Holy Spirit the revelation of Jesus Christ and end time events. When a prophet says an angel told me America is going to be destroyed by an Russian invasion as fulfillment of end time judgment. How would we as Christians judge this angelic encounter and the word of this prophet? Can we simply not ask the prophet to declare their doctrinal beliefs and position concerning the Book of Revelation to gain insight on How this angel might have influenced their end time beliefs? After all if an angel or vision came to me which did not line up with the Word of God, would that not be an angel of light, or a lying vision? Why should I give angelic visitations, open visions, transporting to heaven, dreams, or any other supernatural encounters, more voice of authority the what has already been written in the Word of God. For even if an Angel came to me and told me America will be destroyed by Russia this year as fulfillment of the Book of Revelation; my response would be get behind me Satan. Not that America couldnt be destroyed by Russia, but the timing and events of Revelation are very specific. Thats why so many judgment prophecies being declared as earthquakes, wars, and other catastrophic events need to be tested in the light of Gods Word. For every prophet, dream, vision, angelic encounter, has a doctrinal emphasis lying behind its message. We must test all revelation in the light of the doctrine of the Bible. The scriptures are our final authority, if the saints truly held to this position we would kick out of the Church our fascination with angelic encounters and words of impending judgment and simply preach the Word of God.
