Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are - TopicsExpress

Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8 Have we become a society of doom and gloomers? Has a our way of thinking shifted away from the positive toward the negative, without us even realizing it? Just about everyday, my newsfeed here on FB becomes cluttered with these annoying sponsored ads. In theory, the ads are supposed to be geared to entice me to click on, look at and possibly purchase something based on some particular interest that I may have. In my case, someone has perceived my interest to be diabetes. First, let me assure you that I dont spend my spare time thinking about diabetes. While I was diagnosed and I am being treated for having Type 2, I take my medicine and go on about my day. I watch what and how much I eat, plus I try to get up off the couch a little more than I used to. I pray everyday that God will remove this affliction from me. While He has not done so just yet, He has caused my blood sugar to remain stable, if not run low at times, for over a year now. Some of the ads that I see border on the horrifying. Worried about losing your feet to diabetes? Someone who wasnt, might now be after seeing this splashed across their computer screen. Twenty eight year old woman goes blind, loses her left leg and suffers complete kidney failure all from diabetes. Yes, this is certainly sounds like an ad I would want to click on! Im in no way downplaying the seriousness of diabetes, it most certainly is a devastating disease. But, while I live with it everyday, I choose not let it control my life. I dont worry about how it will control me, but rather how God will control it. In Isaiah 54:17, The Lord tells us that because we are His servants, it is our heritage that; No weapon formed against you will prosper. No disease, no poverty, no person, can defeat you if you only keep your focus on the promises of God and His Word. If you stop and look for a minute, most everything in the advertising world leans toward the negative. We need this product because if we dont buy it, we may get fat, or lose our hair, or maybe we may even die. Without this miracle whatever it is, the best we could ever hope for is a glass that is half empty. What we need to understand, is that we worship a positive God! He, in His love for us, has blessed us by giving us a glass in the first place. When we come to know this truth, we will know that even if there is only one drop of water in that glass, it gives a cause to rejoice and celebrate! Why? Because, with that single drop of water, we can now see that our glass has become more full than empty. Let Go and Let God!
