Finally finished my writing desk today. I was going to buy one but I am so happy now that I made this one, almost by myself. I did have the carpenter put a drawer on it, and now I wish I had asked for a smaller drawer, but I thought a larger one would hold all my stuff. But, I love it. I found the Singer treadle machine and took the top drawers off, took all the coats of old paint off, then painted it black. Hoy found the cedar top for me, and I decided to leave it the natural shape, sanded and put 6 coats of polyurethane on it-and the seat is cheetah. Also used a piece of antler of a deer I shot several years ago. Gonna put a couple more coats of clear finish on the drawer tonight. I am very happy with it--now maybe I will send out more cards and letters than I do!
