Finally made it to Congo. Had a lot of difficulty getting things - TopicsExpress

Finally made it to Congo. Had a lot of difficulty getting things worked out here. Come to find out the people who got my card number ended up taking $890 out of my account before they stopped. They left me with $40 that was it. my card has been canceled and praise God i have another bank card to another bank, it is registered in only one country at a time so any other country will not be able to use it. Thank you Grace Baptist Church for sending some emergency funds until the other bank can get this worked out. Thank you Amy Fortenberry Ramos and Barry Dean Hooks for working things out with the bank and filing the fraud report. All of the money that came out came from a country i will be going to next year but have not gone there yet. Please pray this is worked out soon. the people here in Congo have been amazing in helping me until i could get some funding. I think one of the worst places you can be is in a foreign country with no money. What little money i had in my pocket ran out early. Praise God the money that Grace Baptist sent came in today. God has continued to bless however. I have a good place to stay and good food to eat. The Congolese people are the most amazing people considering their situation. They have helped me so much. This country has been severely war torn. On the way through Rwanda you could see the remnants of the refugee camps. They are vacant now that the people have returned home. The .M23 rebels have been driven out of the country and the only issue that they may have is with the FDRR rebels, but they are so scattered in the jungle they are not causing any trouble for the people. They had a terrible volcano eruption in 2002 that left the town destroyed. Everywhere all you see is volcanic rock. Traveling by motor cycle you find yourself covered in volcanic soot. The volcano is right outside the town and is still active today. No lava is coming out but a lot of smoke. At night time if it is over cast you can see a faint glow coming from the volcano. i was a little unnerved at first to know i am sleeping underneath an active volcano. I am told they give warning in case trouble occurs. There are many orphans here. No mama and no papa because they were killed in the war. If you ever wanted place to come, Congo is the place. So few missionaries that I have seen. I want to thank Brother Mark D Maynard Sr and his folks from the How Far Ministries for hosting me while i am here. I have so much more to tell and so many more pictures but i am trying to keep this post brief. I just wanted to let everyone that is praying for my trip know that i am here. i will post some more tomorrow. Please pray. we will be continuing with leadership training in the morning tomorrow and starting a revival service tomorrow evening. God Bless you guys. love each of you.
