Fine example of how too much caution (or sophistication) can hold - TopicsExpress

Fine example of how too much caution (or sophistication) can hold you back. First time ever at Dishas newfound Jazz class last night, at the time of picking her up, as I went into the building which was quite a fancy shared office space, I was too tired of the day to take the flight of stairs going down (as their location was on lower level). So as I rushed in, without pausing, very carelessly, pressed the call button for the elevator while noticing two white women (other moms), nearby, where the way to the stairs was, trying to open the locked glass door for stairwell to downstairs and also peeking through to see if anyone heard their knocking the door. As soon as the elevator doors opened for me, one of them politely asked, Are you heading to the Jazz class downstairs? With my confirmation, the same one asked again, Oh, we can use this elevator? And I, in the most casual manner said, I wonder why not! Both of them quickly hopped in, and while going down, the first one mentioned she had been coming here for past 3-4 yrs. and still never took the elevator, while the other remarked how they have started to keep the doors locked just recently, and how one time she had to wait almost fifteen minutes before someone could hear her and come up to open the door for her. And I am thinking,... wow, just being bindaas can sometimes be such a witty act!!
