First Book®, Pi Beta Phi’s Literacy Partner, Needs Your Help! The First Book National Book Bank book distribution is soon to take place in Chicago, Illinois. Pi Beta Phi volunteers are needed to help make the event a success! The book distribution will be held the week of September 30–October 3, 2013. Volunteers are needed: Monday, September 30 between 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday, October 1 between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and/or 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 2 between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and/or 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday, October 3 between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and/or 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to attend part of the day or the full day. Volunteers are needed to help with lifting, carrying and sorting boxes of books. Volunteers are also needed to help label boxes and assist First Book staff. We will need 20 to 25 volunteers at a time, so please spread the word about this opportunity. Volunteer dress code is casual (wear Pi Phi tees!), comfortable pants or shorts and closed-toe shoes only.
