**ARBOR DAY TREE REMOVAL/PLANTING UNDERWAY** The City of Manitowoc tree project occurring near the Manitowoc Public Library is a combined effort with the Parks Department for Arbor Day and the Library. There had been one tree missing for a couple years and the other four existing trees were causing trip hazards in the sidewalk because they were not the correct trees for the location. The Manitowoc Chapter of the Izaak Walton League has graciously donated four new trees and Silver Creek nursery has graciously donated one for a total of five new trees. These trees will be smaller slower growing trees called Red Barron Crabs. They have been recommended by the City Tree Commission, Silver Creek Nursery and our City Forester for this location. The existing trees were remove today and the new ones should be planted within two weeks. There will be a celebration to follow on April 25th at around 12pm for Arbor Day at the Library. Keeping our community green!!
