First Nations Health Authority, First Nations Health Council, Stolo Tribal Council, I love working for the Fraser Salish Health Caucus and the Stó:lō Tribal Council. Beginning on Monday, through Tuesday, and today, Health Directors, Chiefs, Councillors, leaders, and caregivers gathered at the Squiala Community Hall in Chilliwack. Together, we listened, learned, and made our plans. We took very good work, prepared by our dear young sister, Trish Osterberg, and with input, advice, and suggestions made it an awesome Regional Health and Wellness Plan. We decided to hold a one-day Regional Caucus meeting to carry out strategic planning, to sort out our working groups, and marching orders. We are excited, motivated, and each caucus member is prepared to do their part of the work. Chief Clem Seymour and Chief David Jimmie closed our morning with an Honouring Ceremony. Clem asked Maureen Chapman, Willie Charlie and I to stand with him. Chief David Jimmie blessed us with a song that he received with his ancestral name. Our Chiefs, Councillors, leaders, Health Directors, and caregivers hugged each of us and expressed their gratitude for our work. The song, the expressions of love and kindness, overwhelmed me. Openly, I shed tears. It is not often that citizens share love and appreciation with their leaders. It lifted my spirit and gave me energy to carry on with this work. Thank you Fraser Salish Health Caucus – you are the best! Dk:
