First names give one a glimpse into the culture and values of the times. When you see the names, it can reminds us of the ethnicity and themes of those times. When you see the name Jose, you can pretty much think Hispanic or Shakia African-American. Have you noticed that most Cuban-born baseball players are no longer named Jesus, Ramon, Toni, etc.? Instead, they are named Yasiel Puig, Yasmani Grandal, Yoenis Cespedes, Yoslan Herrera, Yunel Escobar, etc. because they reflect the Cuban culture of the late 70s and 80s. From now on when you see a Y name, you can be 98% sure the player is Cuban.
