First off I would like to thank everyone for all the love today. To my fellow vets keep on being the badass Americans that you are. To those I had the privilege of deploying with it was an honor and I would gladly go into battle with yall in a heartbeat. For me today isnt one of my favorite days of the year. Today out of several other days of the year causes me to really think about my service in the military. The six years I spent in the Army were some of the best and worst times of my life. I have had the privilege of serving along side of some of Americas finest. I dont want to come off as being negative but i also want others to know why Im not super cheerful today. I will never consider myself a hero, nor most of those I have personally served with. My heroes are SPC. Pickard, PFC Eggleston, 1SG Ellwell, SFC McCain, SPC, Burnett, and PFC Colin. These men never came home and for which I am eternally grateful. I often wonder why I can never seem to enjoy a day for which the nation designates as my day. Well to be honest I have always hated having the spotlight on me. Its not like I am ashamed of my service but yet all I want to do on this day every year is make myself dinner, drink some scotch and really try to understand the true meaning of being a veteran. To close I hope every one of my fellow veterans has the greatest of days and know my drinking horn will be raised in your honor and all those who are no longer able to celebrate with us.
