First post! Writing Prompt: If you could relive the past week, would you? Would you change anything? ______________________________________________________ This past week was hell. Expelled, evicted and fired; and for what? Bumping into someone. But you know what, freedom had been achieved. He slouched on the cockroach ridden couch and sighed. His eyes crawled up to meet the mesmeric gaze of this freak. It leaned toward him, stretching it’s metallic eye wider. There was buzzing and whirring coming from it as if vast calculations were being processed but he knew that couldnt be possible. In fact, this was becoming quite annoying. He was trying to be unfortunate but this freak wouldnt go find some other lab rat. He rested his back on the sticky headrest. The freak’s presence felt closer again. It had closed in and it chest seemed to be beeping. What he would give for a gun right now. “Think of it; the last week never happened. No hurt, suffering or roller coaster of emotions. And you would be making history!” “Ive heard this already metal face. Blah blah blah. I’m done.” He crossed his legs and sighed. “I think you should leave Bot.” Bot moved right up beside him, moving his face uncomfortably close to his. “Sean… you could save, her.” Sean’s mind screeched to a halt. He was right. Sean had lost her. He was so wrapped up in everything else that was going on he had forgotten. Maria was the love of his life. He had even been thinking of proposing. How could he forget. He felt ashamed. But this freak… this invention of his. Maybe this was the way. Maybe fate was finally opening a door for him. He leaned forward fast while headbutting Bot’s silver cheek out of the way and started seriously thinking about his proposal for once. “Ow!” Bot was rubbing his cheek. He glanced over. “How didnt that hurt..” “I have just one question to ask you metal face.” A heavy air filled the room as he began breathing slowly. “Will this work?” Bot moved slowly in front of him and stared intensely into his eyes. The buzzing and whirring was louder and faster than before. The red dot in the center of the eye was darting back and forth. Sean stared right back even more intensely as if trying to possess him. “Wait right here, this will only take a minute.” Bot spun on the spot and whizzed out of the room leaving a cartoonish dust cloud of himself behind. Sean coughed and cleared his throat. Only a minute? He wasnt a fan of this fantasy science. It’ll only take one minute to go to last Tuesday. Whatever. He just hoped he would remember what to change. ~James J. H. Taylor
