First time for me to witnessing the mating of dragonflies native - TopicsExpress

First time for me to witnessing the mating of dragonflies native to Northern Wisconsin! :) How intriguing yet such odd behavior, at least in the view of a human expectation. When mating, they connect to one another + for some reason, in the midst of the act itself (lol) they dip the one end of their connected-bodies into the shallow water, then what seemingly appears to be banging their intertwined-bodies into the solid, earth mound right above them, in a repetitive manner. This surprisingly goes on for quite some time, although I was only able to capture a short video due to my kids running up scaring them away :) :) Beautiful witnessing a unique glance at nature like this
