The town jetties are alive with bream, trevally, luderick and mullet taking local prawn, glassies and white bait. The surf is producing the odd salmon on poppers and pilchards. Offshore six mile reef has pinkie snapper, morwong and barracutta chasing pilchard and squid. Lake Tyers Nowa Nowa Arm is producing bream with the best results on lures, look for structures and snags which can be used to ambush their prey. Trident Arm and up to Devils Hole are good productive areas. The Toorloo Arm will also have bream flatties and garfish, best bait being worm and local prawn. Mitchell River The cut, the bluff and the backwaters are producing 5.2kg to 5.6kg bream on crab. Try shadoof lodge to the highway bridge for bream and perch. Best bait being local prawn, crab, soft plastics and lures. Tambo River Reynolds Road and towards the mouth of the river is good for bream. Sardine flats is a good spot to try as well. Local prawn is the best bait. Nicholson Between the two bridges are good spots for sizeable bream taking local prawn. The car bodies and the cliffs are also worth a try. Metung The town jetties and boardwalk are good spots for bream taking local and Queensland prawn. Luderick are cruising around Baxter Island taking local weed. Try the Marina Jetty for whiting taking worm. Paynesville Newlands Arm and the sunset boat ramp are worth a look for bream, mullet, perch, luderick and garfish. Their bait of choice being worm and peeled prawn. Try Mc Millan Straits boat ramps and jetties for bream. Holland’s Landing Jones Bay, Toms Creek and towards the mouth of the straits have bream taking prawn and soft shell crabs. Marlo The surf beaches are good for salmon on poppers and pilchard. In the Snowy River upstream from Marlo perch in the snags are chasing hard bodied lures. Luderick are around the rock groynes taking weed. Frenchs Narrow’s is good on the outgoing tide for big bream on prawn. Some mullet are around taking worm. Bemm River The entrance is now closed and the water level is rising. There is plenty of luderick in the river taking worm. Bream are to be found in the lake, bait of choice being peeled prawn and worm. Flatties are in the lake as well chasing lures. Tamboon Inlet Peach Tree Creek and into the inlet is producing bream taking peeled prawn. Some flathead are being taken using vibes. Luderick are around the rock groynes chasing local weed and worm. Mallacoota Salmon are on the beach taking poppers and blue bait. The top lake is a good spot for black bream and yellow fin bream taking yabbies, prawn and lures. Tailor are to be found at Captain’s Point on the incoming tide taking lures. Some luderick are about on local weed.
