... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 11 am MST this morning through this evening... The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for portions of northern Arizona... including the following areas... Coconino Plateau... Grand Canyon country... Kaibab Plateau and Marble and Glen canyons... Oak Creek and Sycamore canyons... western Mogollon Rim... Yavapai County mountains and Yavapai County valleys and basins. * From 11 am MST this morning through 11 PM MST tonight * deep monsoon moisture and an unstable airmass are in place across western Arizona today. Thunderstorm coverage is expected to increase by late morning and bring the threat of flash flooding to areas west of a line from Page to Black Canyon City. * Locations near recent wildfire burn areas are more susceptible to flash flooding. The doce and Yarnell hill burn areas are within the watch boundary. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may lead to flash flooding within the watch area. People... especially those located along area creeks... rivers or other flash flood prone areas... should continue to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action should flash flood warnings be issued.
