Flea medication making pets sick? Change.org anna -- Theres a new petition taking off on Change.org, and we think you might be interested in signing it. Hartz Flea and Ticks: Start using natural ingredients in flea medication so our pets no longer have to suffer Meygan Cox Bristol, Tennessee Sign Meygans Petition My name is Meygan Cox, and I am the owner of three “furbabies”. I do plenty of research when it comes to giving medication to my cats. I must say that what I have found is startling. While I have not used Sergeants or Hartz products, I have come across a large number of people stating how toxic these products are. If you do your research like I did, you will see that many people have written statements about how Sergeants and Hartz have caused their pets to become ill or, even worse, their flea products resulted in death. I started this petition to make others aware of what they may be giving to the animals. If you have ever used Hartz or Sergeants and your pet has became ill or died, then please contact the National Pesticide Information Center at 1-800-858-7378 or you may contact them via e-mail. For access to natural flea control, please visit PETA.org/issues/companion-animal-issues/companion-animals-factsheets/flea-control-safe-solutions/. Please do not give your animal flea medicine or flea shampoo without contacting your veterinarian first. You may visit hartzvictims.org to read very recent reviews about the dangers of giving your animals flea-killing products. If you are like me, you do not want to take the risk of your pet becoming ill or dying from a product that is supposed to help keep our animals healthy. I propose that Hartz, Sergeants, and other related brands please use natural ingredients in their flea medication products. It is time that companies that make products for our animals start caring about the well-being of our pets! I ask you to please reconsider using these products. I do not wish anyone to lose their beloved pet. Please sign my petition to help spread the awareness of these products. There is currently a video circulating on Facebook that features a cat that was, according to the cats owner, given a certain brand of Sergeants cat flea medicine. The cat was convulsing and eventually had to be put asleep. I called Sergeants to discuss this video and was told that they do not make that specific type of medicine that the woman claimed she used on the cat. Before I got off the phone, I asked the person about the several complaints I read on the Internet about their other products. I was told that question could not be answered and that Sergeants would not be re-doing or updating their medication for pets. While it is unclear what medication the cat in the video was given, the cat’s life was cut short due to flea medication. Again, lets help make Sergeants, Hartzs, and similiar brands know what they are doing or have already done to our pet(s). With your help, we may make a difference in the medication our pets are receiving! Sign Meygans Petition
