Folks, I just sent this to my home church but wanted to share here in case any of you wanted to do same. I had a thought this weekend and was hoping to reach out to anyone that uses ziplock gallon size bags. The homeless ministry uses them for our “To Go Packs” that we make up each time. Generic/Name brand doesn’t matter - we put packaged food in them for folks to have a meal or two later after we leave. I went into my pantry to get out whatever and realized I had at least five zip locks in there with opened non perishable stuff in them – noodles, chips, licorice, sugar, and flour. I typically put “stuff” in them when I open it, can’t consume it all at one sitting, and want to save the remainder of the item. Then when I use it, I throw the ziplock gallon size bag away. As the homeless ministry continues to grow and the funds are always tight, it came to me – Thank you Lord! Why not recycle the ziplock gallon size bags, all it takes is a quick rinse with soap and water, let them dry and Bam – they are ready for the “To Go Packs” for the homeless. So if anyone feels led to “Recycle” their Gallon Size Zip Lock bags – that are washed, rinsed, and dried – I air dry mine and then finish drying them with a towel – water stains are OK! The Homeless Ministry would be so grateful! Thank you for all you do! Tracey PS. No spaghetti or other yucky stained ones please… Thank you!
