Folks, Recently, in luring Ribadu and ors to step down from the Adamawa guber primaries, the PDP stated to the aspirants that the forthcoming guber election in Adamawa was to elect a governor WHOM WILL COMPLETE THE TENURE of Impeached Gov. Murtala H. Nyako. Recall that Nyako and his Deputy were recently impeached from Office and based on the provisions of the CFRN 1999, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly was sworn in as Acting Governor, pending when fresh elections will hold to fill the vacant offices. Now, not withstanding the argument that the Deputy Governor to Nyako resigned before he was impeached, the reality in the face of the law is that both offices of Governor and Deputy Governor were constitutional terminated and therefore vacant and that the Speaker SHOULD ONLY ACT as Governor pending when INEC conducts a fresh election to fill the offices. The questions therefore bothering my mind and which I think should be sorted out in the face of impending travesty that may happen when a Governor and Deputy Governor are eventually elected in Adamawa in October are as follows: 1. With the impeachment and/or resignation of Both Governor and Deputy Governor, is that administration not officially terminated and therefore leaves the gubernatorial election calendar in that state altered? 2. Should the PDP Candidate emerge winner after CONTESTING an ELECTION and is SWORN in as Governor, will he be constitutionally serving his first term or merely completing a tenure? 3. Should APC or any other party win the election in October, will the party be said to have served out its first term barely 8 months after taking oath of office because the party would also be assumed to be completing the remaining 8 months of Nyakos supposed tenure? CAVEAT: ANY COMMENT THAT DOES NOT ADDRESS THE ISSUES RAISED WILL BE DELETED.
