Following on from James Rudds post I was curious to see how badly the proposed car park along the Northampton Road would flood so have looked up the series of flood photographs I took in March 2008. The south-west side of the proposed car park will probably lie just beyond the clump of trees in the middle distance of the photograph. This was the worst flood that I remember seeing in this area so the car park will certainly totally flood in exceptional years and the lower part of car park will flood occasionally if it is at the same level the present ground. By building the ground up I would think SNC would probably overcome the flooding problem apart from really exceptional years. The question would be whether the Rivers Authority would allow it to be built up without some scheme to offset the lost flood plain.
