Following the logic of If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all isnt wise. Its just prioritizing censoring and giving yourself and others the option of either being nice and polite or silent.... Well Id rather just be myself. Some comments and attitudes are obviously unnecessary, detrimental, ignorant, immature etc but be nice or silent is not the way forward; its not what some of the greatest martyrs and legends did - Malcolm X, Emily Pankhurst, Emma Goldman, Che Guevara, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela... And so on and so forth. They wouldnt be where they are today, or have made the impacts and changes they made, if theyd have adopted that attitude. You cant make everyone happy all of the time, you shouldnt attempt to, and you shouldnt silence yourself for fear that others may dislike what you have to day. Some comments reflect badly on their speaker, rather than their target, so just try to find solace in the irony.
