Foods That Cause Premature Aging – Beware Posted by Josh Brisbane on Sunday, June 9, 2013 Do you eat whole-wheat toast in the morning in place of white bread, thinking that it is much healthier for you? Do you have corn flakes because you believe that they are a healthy and hearty option? If you do, you might be doing more harm than good. You will be probably be shocked to hear that four of the most commonly consumed foods today are making us look older than we should. Worst of all, they are harming our bodies in the process. Here is what you need to know… You Are What You Eat Whole wheat, corn, sugar and certain oils have damaging effects on your body, and it shows! These foods will age you faster than almost any other. Why? Because they all cause high blood sugar, which is directly related to the aging process. When sugar levels get too high, a certain kind of compound results in the body that causes damage to joints and organs, and ends up giving you those dreaded wrinkles on your face. Here are the basics: •Whole wheat contains a specific type of carbohydrate that is not found in many other carb sources. This carb, known as Amylopectin-A, spikes blood sugar to dramatic levels. Even pure sugar doesn’t have as powerful an effect! •Corn products, particularly those that contain high fructose corn syrup, produce 10 times the amount of bodily aging compounds than glucose alone. •Sugar has a direct link to age by producing composites in your body that speed up the aging process. Less obvious foods, such as white potatoes and rice, break down into sugar and can cause the same effect. •Vegetable oils, such as soybean, plain vegetable and canola, have been processed at extremely high temperatures and then refined. This causes polyunsaturated fats to exist in products, which go to work on your cell membranes and produce free radicals. To Eat or Not To Eat While this information may change your mind about what you eat, you might be asking, “How do I avoid foods that seem to be everywhere?” That is a valid question. Here are some tips: •Wheat and Corn: You don’t have to eliminate it, but try to drastically reduce your intake. You will feel and look much better. Make a point of removing wheat from one meal a day. Start small. Do the same with corn products. •Sugar: Has a negative impact on your entire body, and is a big time troublemaker. Avoid it as much as possible. If you must use a sweetener, opt for stevia since it is natural, as opposed to chemically-bound substitutes. •Oil: You may not be able to stop using it, but you can choose avocado and extra-virgin olive over vegetable, to avoid negative health consequences. Progress is Progress If you can’t wake up tomorrow and remove all four of these things from your diet (and most people won’t,) don’t worry. Any progress is a step in the right direction, and will contribute towards keeping you feeling and looking younger. Small, consistent changes are enough to start seeing results. Cut out these 4 evil foods today, and claim back the health and youth that is so rightfully yours. - See more at: reinventingaging.org/anti-aging/4-foods-that-cause-premature-aging-beware/#sthash.EOMPn9ji.dpuf
