For Adoption: “Chester Carmichael” Mastiff/Shar Pei mix Approx. 8 months old Male No Papers Un-neutered Has had all puppy shots Re-homing Fee: $75.00 un-neutured / $150.00 to neuter prior to final adoption Indoor and outdoor a must Home inspection prior to final adoption First Right of Refusal required. He must be returned to me if for some reason the adoption doesnt work out or circumstances change. “Chester Carmichael” was rescued from an abusive and neglectful home where he was kept tied in a backyard. He was malnourished and severely underweight when rescued. The Samaritan who rescued him said their vet found trash in his stomach he was eating to survive. With some love and care at their home, he put on some weight, and is still gaining weight and growing with us. - Very good-natured, affectionate, friendly. - Good with all other dogs and with cats. - Appears to be good with kids, but would need to be watched around very small children just because he might knock them over in his eagerness. - Very smart. Already knows “Sit” and “Stay”. - Housebroken. This dog is just a big lovebug, and wants nothing more than to cuddle and be petted and pampered. Hes going to be a big boy, so a comfy home and a good-sized yard are definitely a must. :) **When Chester first came to us, we noticed signs that along with neglect, he was also probably abused. He was prone to hyper-submissive behaviors, such as cowering and rolling belly up, at any large motion he perceived as “angry people”, such as raised hands, clapping and raised voices. With patience and rehab, my daughter and I have worked him past most of his fearfulness, and he’s learning to be a normal puppy again. Any prospective adopters should be mindful of this, and continue working with him to shed all fear of normal human actions.
