I agree almost completely (eye-roll)! In a modern world, its simply not acceptable for some players to have to sit on the bench, while others get to play. It also seriously grieves me that we still allow some athletes to score more points than others. Just think how this is stunting the development of our youth! This really needs to be addressed. NOBODY NEEDS TO SCORE MORE THAN 6 POINTS IN A GAME! How degrading is this to the kids that dont achieve the same as the high-scorers? Our kids are continually beat-down and stunted from low self-esteem, thanks to sports programs that continue to allow discrimination and inequality on the court. I think that Kanawha County needs to go a step further, and amend their proposal to include a limit on points scored by each individual (6 is the limit in most modern industrialized countries that have already adopted this system). I mean, realistically, even if they allow all athletes the same amount of playing-time, there is still going to be a certain amount of hurt-feelings and inferiority complexes. I mean, if your son puts-up a triple-double and mine doesnt, its really going to be meaningless to my son that he got to play the same amount of time. We really need to step-up as parents and DEMAND that all kids have the same opportunity to feel good about themselves. We cannot continue to let a select-few students score all the points (we arent primitive cave-men you know). We are enlightened! Therefore, I propose that beginning January 1, 2014 all middle-school, highschool, collegiate, church leagues etc, adopt a new policy of retiring those players from the court, once they have achieved 6 points in a game. The continual removal of those scoring the maximum allowable points, will allow for the eventual balancing of skills on the court. This will allow for an era of competition such as we have never seen before! Just imagine how great little Johnny is going to feel after the game, when he TIES for TOP SCORER! (nevermind the fact that he was the last remaining player on the court... On either team. HE DID IT!) If we could offer this boost of confidence to all of our student athletes, and remove those feelings of inferiority-- just think what they might accomplish later in life! For the record, I, personally, dont feel like we need to enforce this at a professional sports level. That would be silly.
