For Throw Back Thursday, I am sharing a photo that shows the reason I have been obsessed with collies all my life. This is King who was our neighbors dog back in the 60s (this photo taken in probably 1964 or so -- Im the younger one on the left, with my sister on the right.) I would go over to their place and play with him all the time, and even brush him. He was kept in an old converted single stall barn building with a kennel fence around it (remember - this was a long time ago and that was probably considered luxury housing at the time!) We moved away when I was in 3rd grade. Some time later (a few years?) we went back to visit. I immediately went out back to see King, who was probably 12 or so at that time, and he pressed up against the fence like he had always done for me so that I could push my fingers through and pet him. I heard later that he died the next day. It would be more than 20 years before I would have my own collie, and I have had one (sometimes 2 at a time) ever since.
