For Tom Kovar, on Emily Wassyng page. We arent FB friends so I cant contact you directly. Perhaps Emily can pop your name in here so you can see this and reply? You posted a point and I didnt want to post something off topic on that memorial post. Anyway, do you think one has to be liberal to be compassionate? As I see it, the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals decide what they think the world should look like and work towards it. Conservatives let each decide for themselves, and work towards that. (Please do not confuse conservative with moral majority, with fascists, with religious fundamentalist, etc.) I used to be liberal. Now Ive realized I have zero concept what is right and wrong for other people, as do they for me. What I as a conservative sort strive for is that each be free to decide what they want and have the ability to achieve that. If I use past social experiments as a guideline, like the Soviet Union, like social engineering of the current administration, like FDR, what I find is that more freedoms are taken away than are given and more decisions removed from those effected by them only to be placed in the hands of a centralized, all knowing class of rulers.
