For all parents and especially for those of us with children with special needs. We might have heard from our childrens Occupational Therapists on the importance of exercise. My sons OT told us that the vestibular system is closely linked with emotional regulation. This article informs us that exercise is important for all children because in order to develop a strong balance system, children need to move their body in all directions, for hours at a time... to support higher-level attention and learning in the classroom. Perhaps this is why most children have lower attention span nowadays. This is why I ensure my kids get their dose of playground everyday but it sounds like 30min a day is still insufficient! Other than exercise, does anyone else have anything to share about using EOs/ other methods to support the vestibular system/ emotional regulation in children? washingtonpost/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2014/07/08/why-so-many-kids-cant-sit-still-in-school-today/
