For as long as I can remember I wanted my first born child to be a son. The main reason for this was because I was the oldest child in my family and I always thought it would be so great to have an older brother. I wanted my subsequent children to have the benefit of the older brother I had always wanted. On this day thirteen years ago I found myself overwhelmed with fear when they announced the birth of a son because Id already been warned that a boy was our worse case scenario. Well, all these years later I just want to say that Im wishing my boy, my much desired son and long wished for oldest child a very happy13th birthday. You my dear boy have defied the odds since before we even knew you. Through your life even the NICU doctors called your journey a miracle. They had no medical explanation for your healing. It took a long time, but it came - the perfect vision, your healed heart and lungs, the healthy muscles that they were so certain would put you in a wheel chair. That chair was not to be for you. You have exceeded every expectation. You are such a blessing to us and those that meet you in so many ways and Im so proud of you. Happy birthday Zee!
