For me, Beethovens Violin Sonata No. 9 is one of the most perfect compositions ever to grace the universe with its presence. It also is one of those connections that I make to kung fu. Ive played music most of my life but, until practicing kung fu, I never understood why it was so precious to me. Music was just about the only thing that could transport me inward so deep that I forgot about my physical form. I could achieve complete balance of mind/body/spirit while playing my guitar or piano. When I compose music I speak a language that we all understand, and is limitless. Watch this performance of Kreutzer and see if you can spot good kung fu. If youre already a student of mine, pay attention to what you know about foundation. Shoulders, elbows, wrists, and so on. Close your eyes and see what you feel.
