For my East Coast friends and relatives.... This is called a pyrocumulus cloud. Its similar to a thunderhead you are very familiar with. However, this is totally caused by a large wildland fire.(which is about 25 miles from us) What you are seeing is unusually extreme, vigorous fire behavior This time lapse was taken over approximately 4 hours or so. No rain in this monster. Thought it would be of interest to you.
