For people in Toronto: Social Planning produces a series of issue-based fact sheets ahead of each election. The fact sheets provide an introduction to a specific issue followed by an analysis and questions for candidates running in the election. Toronto’s municipal election is coming up on October 27 and we are in the process of writing our fact sheets, which will be on issues such as child care, poverty, employment etc. This year, we will have a fact sheet on accessibility in Toronto. We are seeking advice and help from experts on the issue of accessibility in Toronto to develop this fact sheet. Any resources, publications, statistical reports and written pieces would be very helpful for us to understand: 1) issues about accessibility that the municipal government can/should address, 2) questions that residents should ask their candidates on accessibility and 3) most important problems when it comes to accessibility in Toronto.
